Peer Support and Therapy Groups

Two complementary forms of connection: lived-experience support and clinician-led therapeutic work.

Understand the difference

Peer support emphasizes shared experience, encouragement and recovery goals. Therapy groups are led by qualified clinicians and follow clinical treatment aims. Both may help people connect, but neither automatically fits every need.

Ask before joining

Discuss who facilitates the group, eligibility, format, accessibility and costs. Ask about privacy expectations and group agreements. Other participants cannot provide the same confidentiality guarantees as a regulated clinical service.

Keep your care connected

Groups can complement individual therapy and other treatment. Bring concerns about fit or safety to your clinician. Participation should support your goals, not pressure you into sharing more than you want.
